In January 2004 David played Ivan in developmental work on the English adaptation of Ugljesa Sajtinac's play "Huddersfield" at West Yorkshire Playhouse. This preliminary work focused on using the skills of writer, translator, script editor, director, and actors to develop the original Serbian script into a working English version. Set in modern-day Serbia, the play tells the story of a young an returning to his Serbian roots after forging a life for himself in the North of England.
The English language premiere of "Huddersfield" was subsequently staged at West Yorkshire Playhouse.
