
A collaborative new writing initiative between West Yorkshire Playhouse and Theatre in the Mill, Bradford. Two hundred scripts were whittled down to a final selection of five - a twenty-minute segment of each was aired in semi-rehearsed performances on Friday June 10th and Saturday June 11th 2005 at Theatre in the Mill, Bradford.
David appeared in four of the five works:
In "Flock" David played Simon, boyfriend of successful property developer, Tamsin. Unbeknownst to Simon, Tamsin harbours a dark secret from her past, and when Scott, a homeless heroin addict turns up at their apartment, Simon finds out about an Tamsin's uncomfortable history in the most dramatic of ways.
"Street" depicts the lives of five characters living in a pit of existence - a world of poverty and wasters and tells the story of Maze, who is struggling to raise herself and Ollo out of the mire. David played "Base Camp".
In "Bus", David plays Ben - an artist an publisher of "Flyover" an underground comic for teenagers, which is feted by the publishing fraternity, much to Ben's annoyance. But when he meets 17 yr-old Sam, he is introduced to the life that he depicts in "Flyover" and is forced to face some uncomfortable truths.
"Messages" is set in a hospice in which Thomas is dying of cancer. David plays Shawn, an unwelcome figure from Thomas's past who turns up to visit Thomas with an unusual business proposition - the delivery of messages from the living to the dead. But Thomas inadvertently uncovers messages that Shawn would rather be kept private...
